Alexander the Great (-0355-07-21/-0322-06-11). King of Macedon who conquered most of his known world: From Greece to India. A military spike in the chart of history.

Hannibal Barca (-0247/-0183). A politician and statesman of Carthage (a city in northern Africa (modern Tunisia) across the water from Sicily and the toe of Italy). Considered one of the greatest military commanders and tacticians in history, especially for victories over superior forces and war elephants. The arch enemy of the Roman Republic.

Gaius Julius Caesar IV, The Julius Caesar (-0100-07-12/-0044-03-15). Transformed the Roman Republic into the Roman Empire with his death. Extended the Roman sphere to the Atlantic Ocean via Gaul and Britannia. It was his adopted son and nephew, Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus (-0062-09-23/0014-08-19), who became Caesar Augustus, the first Roman Emperor.

Charlemagne, Charles the Great (0742/0814-01-28). A Frank of the Carolingian line. King of the Franks (0768/0814), King of the Lombards (0774/0814), conqueror of Saxonia, and Imperator Augustus, founder of the Holy Roman Empire (0800/0814) as Charles I. His realm was bordered by Iberia (Spain), mid-Italy, the Slavs, and Denmark. The "Father of Europe" and the first truly imperial power in the West since the fall of Rome.

Genghis Khan (1162/1227-08-18). Founded the Mongol Empire (1206/1368), the largest contiguous empire in world history. His introduction of paper, printing, as well as economic and cultural exchange was a catalyst for the Renaissance. His grandson, Kublai Khan (1215-09-23/1294-02-18), the last of the Great Khans, brought the Mongol Empire to its greatest expanse, but is also known for his failed attempts at invading Japan in 1274 and 1281.

Napoleon I Bonaparte, born Napoleone di Buonaparte (1769-08-15/1821-05-05). General of the French Revolution; First Consul of the French Republic (1799/1804); Emperor of the French and King of Italy (1804/1814). As Emperor he fought and beat nearly all of Europee. His downfall started with a disastrous invasion into Russia (1812), followed by a defeat at the Battle of Leipzig (1813), and finally a decisive defeat at the Battle of Waterllo (1815). The Napoleonic Code was the first successful modern implementation of rule of law, with clearly written and accessible laws.
