Consider for example the proceedings that we call "games." I mean board-games, card-games, ball-games, Olympic games, and so on. What is common to them all? Don't say: "There must be something common, or they would not be called 'games' "--but look and see whether there is anything common to all. ... How should we explain to someone what a game is? I imagine that we should describe games to him, and we might add: "This and similar things are called games." And do we know any more about it ourselves?

For the fun of it, here are some of my favorite games:

Board Games
- Go. A turn based strategic game. Two players.
Card Games
- Poker.
War Games
- Anything involving armies and troops.
Computer Games
- Civilization. A turn based management strategy game. For history buffs: build a civilization. Single player only.
- StarCraft and WarCraft. Real time tactical and strategic war game on the squad level. Solo or up to 8 players online, LAN, etc.
- ~~Tomb Raider~~. Real time role playing game. Single player only. I've been forced to play this game over and over by my toddler so many time that I now hate it!

  - Doom. One of the original first person shooters. Futuristic.
  - Half-Life. Modern anti-terrorism.

- Turn based strategy games.
  - Empire. Turn based strategic war game. WWII type units. DOS. Solo or multiplayer on LAN.
  - Master of Orion. Turn based strategic war game. Futuristic.
  - SimCity. Turn based management strategy game. Build a city.
  - Sword of Aragon. Story driven turn based strategy game/role playing game. Fantasy: you play a lord. DOS. Single player only.
- Real time strategy games. Solo or multiplayer online.
  - Age of Empires. Also has management strategy elements. For history buffs.
  - Black & White. Story driven real time strategy game. Fantasy: you play as a god.
  - Command and Conquer. WWII to modern type units.
  - Europa Universalis. For European history buffs of 1419-1820.
- Massively multiplayer online role playing games.
  - Asheron's Call. Fantasy.
  - Everquest. Fantasy.
  - World of WarCraft. Fantasy.
